Capturing Q4 Fuel’s Success Story for Sage

Sage, a global leader in accounting and business management software, needed to demonstrate the tangible value their products bring to their customers. They identified Q4 Fuel, a key client, as a perfect example of this success. Sage approached us to manage the full production of a testimonial video that would capture Q4 Fuel's experience. This project required us to handle everything from the initial concept and logistics to the final edits, ensuring the story felt genuine and the production quality met the high standards expected by a global software brand.
The Challenge:
The primary goal was to extract a genuine story rather than a rehearsed script. We needed Q4 Fuel to speak openly about how Sage software improved their operations, which required making the interviewee feel completely at ease before the cameras started rolling.
Logistically, the shoot presented a unique set of hurdles. We needed to film B-roll footage at a functioning Q4 Fuel petrol station in Pretoria. It was essential that we captured the energy of the business without disrupting the daily flow of traffic or interfering with their customers and staff. We had to balance high-quality production values with the reality of a busy, operational environment.
The Solution:
We tackled this project with a focus on preparation and empathy. Before the shoot, we scheduled a call with the Q4 Fuel representative to build rapport. We didn't want the interview to feel like an interrogation, so we developed open-ended questions designed to spark conversation and uncover the most impactful details of their experience with Sage.
Our team managed the entire production process. We visited the Q4 Fuel head office in Pretoria for the main interview and travelled to their local station for the supporting footage. We kept our footprint small and respectful at the station, ensuring business continued as usual while we got the shots we needed.
We carefully reviewed the footage to extract the strongest points in post-production, editing them into a cohesive narrative for the main video. We also identified key soundbites to create shorter, punchy videos specifically for social media distribution.
